COVID-19 CORNER

Unexpected new year,
Rough start raising the alarm,
With the damage already far gone.
Yanked from the old!
Forced into the new,
Era of segregation,
Adjusting to online communication.
A struggle for the old.
Pure agony for the young.
Lacking the face-to-face bond,
Racing ahead of time in our education.
Missing the campus vibes,
Unable to reminisce and enjoy our lives,
Time stamps and social media posts now serve as our mental archives.
As the year goes on, we must prepare for the storm.
No time to slack,
No time to frown,
There is work to do and so it has to been done.
Not by one but by all,
To protect ourselves and successfully crossover to 2021.

DECEIVED
I wish I wasn't here.
I don't know where I wish I was,
But my discomfort in this space is clear.
This isn't how freshman year was supposed to be!
Where is my life? Where are the parties?
My life, is draining out of me.
I'm 'Learning' through a screen,
From people I've never met,
I try to email to ask questions:
My lecturer hasn't answered yet.
This was never a part of the plan.
Why am I depressed?
Why gentle people, am I sitting here wishing for death?
"Studying from home,
Is a privilege." I know.
But not for those of us, whose hearts need space to roam.
Getting into university feels more like punishment than goal achieved,
I'm sitting, struggling to complete this assignment on my own,
My hopes,
By COVID,
Deceived.

GROvid-19
I got what I wanted many may say I'm crazy.
No school distractions and no hassle to school,
I now have time to do and be great.
Now I cannot afford to...
Waste time on Criminal Minds
Or have other things on my mind.
Many call this a pandemic
But my option of failing school is past the end time.
Predominantly focused on lectures and tutorials and that's a fact,
I can't erase the thought of quarantine and not getting my academic groove back.
I make my schedules and for class I'll be early.
I'll try to balance it all and make time for mental health,
Because a few years for from now I want my degree on my achievement’s bookshelf.
COVID didn't mash up my life, it only gave direction.
Helps me make decisions and as I said, "Failing is not an option".
I can juggle school, work, responsibilities, and home all in one space,
But my roadmap to my dream ... will still stay on my bed with a resting face.
I'll not wait on motivation to determine my outcome.
Corona woke me up from procrastinating and my bad days are done.

A small sneeze droplet, coughing without a cover. By time you look you have Covid-19, sad thing you might never recover. Hand sanitizers are good, Lysol may even be better, but the best remedy to this virus, tan ayuh yard and stay unda cover.
Corona virus gone international, badder dan any nuclear weapon, it mek nuff people quarantine and others ina isolation. Dem say drink fever grass and ginger tea, dem say it might save yuh, but there is no guarantee.
The vaccine is still a mystery, scientist gone blank, boii this make history cause all dem a search, not one medicine weh dem come up wid cya get a positive response.
Trump nu business bout America, Andrew cya mamnge fi him bunch. Italian government stress out, Caymon deh pon lock dung.
Man nu have han fi mek coffin, right now a so the world a run.You think crime did hat? Well… corona naa shed no blood, but it make nuff people breathing days done!
People naa yield to the warning, social distance naa take place, everyweh you go, people a talk ina each other face. One ting me know! Uno betta tek dis ting serious! Go dung a knee city and dial Jesus a him alone can heal us.

I am a warrior
Because every time you fire
I take the pain as I walk forward
At times I dwindle, at time I fall
But still I rise
I am a warrior
Because each time you shake your head
And make me feel like your greatest regret
I look you in the eye, with feelings of love
And thank you for the rejection
I am a warrior
Because for every imperfection that you point out
Each new flaw that you mark in my brain
I find a way to turn those scars into art
And look at myself in a beautiful way

Because with every shout you let loose
I swallow my pride in searing silence
And though my heart can only take so much
I never utter a single word of defiance

And angered cried
